Weigh in: Saturday July 29th From 7:00am - 8:00am. Weigh in will be at Eagle Sports Complex - 109 Weedon St W, Mansfield QLD

Fights will start 11:00am Saturday July 29th.  

Available Divisions: 
18+, 10-11yrs, 12-13yrs, 14-15yrs, 16-17yrs

Available Classes: (all bouts are in accordance with MTA rules)
THIS IS AN AMATEUR AND JUNIOR EVENT. 

  • ADULTS - MTA rules for C and B class are followed HOWEVER there is one padding requirement. ALL bouts are 2 minutes. 
  • All bouts are in head gear, elbow guards, cloth shin guards, 10oz gloves.
  • All bouts are with elbows. 
  • All junior bouts are in accordance with MTA rules.

ALL BOUTS ARE PRE MATCHED. ANY DIVISION WITH 4 PEOPLE IN IT WILL BE A 4 MAN TOURNAMENT. 

The Queensland Amatuer Open will be held July 29th at Eagle Sports Centre Brisbane. 

Entry is open to all athletes from any Muaythai Australia Member Club Australia wide. 

ALL BOUTS ARE - PRE MATCHED with  SAME DAY WEIGH IN and divisions broken down by weight/class. 

ENTERING - when you enter, your weight division, age fight record must be accurate. Include in your record ALL experience. This includes development days, overseas tournaments or bouts and ANY competition experience including Kickboxing/Boxing/MMA. Competitors records are subject to verification.

All entrants MUST be a member of an MTA registered club.

It doesn't matter if you are a registered pro or amateur anywhere in Australia, only that you enter your fight record, including ALL fights (eg; inter-club competitions and development days. States which call inter-clubs – sparring days, must include these also, so as not to mis-represent your experience and record). Competitors records are subject to verification.

EQUIPMENT - MTA will supply equipment however entrants can bring thier own head gear a use it IF APPROVED. (Chest guards - if required- will be supplied by MTA and MUST be worn over top of a singlet. No crop tops or bare chests will be permitted underneath chest guards.)

Competitors must supply:

  • Mouthguard
  • Groin guard
  • Muay Thai shorts
  • Wraps (no taping allowed over knuckles)

Weigh In - YOU MUST WEIGH IN, MIN - IN MUAYTHAI SHORTS (MALES), PLUS CROP TOP FOR WOMEN. This clothing is included in your weight. All bouts are MTA weight divisions. 

Weight Divisions.  At registration, you must be in the weight division you have entered. If you are outside the weight division you can not compete. 

Clubs should only enter ONE member per division. If two fighters from the same club do end up competing - they must actually compete or the Referee will disqualify BOTH fighters for not fighting.

PROOF OF AGE AND IDENTITY IS REQUIRED ON REGISTRATION AND WEIGH IN. PASSPORT, DRIVERS LICENSE OR BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

Registration is for the competition only. All other administration and logistics are at your our expense.

7:00pm - Confirmation of match ups (to be emailed to your registration email address) 

FRIDAY 28 JULY

6:00pm to 8:00pm - Confirm Fight Card.

SATURDAY

7:00am to 8:00am - Weigh in

10:30am Welcome Speech

11:00am First Bouts Start

Eligibility - MTA Event is open to members of MTA registered Clubs only. If you wish to enter - you must join as an MTA club or get your club to join the MTA. The Club must be financial at the time of entry and the event.

Spectator Prices: - ALL TICKETS PURCHASED AT THE DOOR ONLY 

  • $30 Adults (18yrs and older)
  • $20 Kids (Ages 17yrs-7yrs)
  • 6yrs of age & under are free

Refund – On request (in writing) by a case by case basis. Any withdrawal must be accompanied by a medical certificate or no refund will be supplied. For any person with no-one in their division; at the conclusion of the event you can apply for a refund, You must not turn down any offered reasonable or available matches. 

Drug testing - The MTA is a member of SIA. Random entrants may be drug tested during the event. By entering you acknowledge and approve to be drug tested if requested. Refusing a drug test, is an immediate 4 year ban from competition. Coaches and trainers can also be banned. 

Medical Requirements - A medical and blood tests (with a HIV clearance) for the event is required. No medical - no compete - no refund. It MUST be presented at registration with proof of age and identity. Your Medical & Bloods can not be more than 6 months old and must be using the MTA Official Medical Form. For current registered MTA / Combat Sports Competitors medicals which have previously been validated within 12 months must be presented. Medical/bloods must indicate approval to fight after serology testing has been completed. 

Blood tests are required for anyone 16 years and overon the original form. Blood tests can not be more than 6 months old. Pregnancy deceleration is required for females who are 16 years and over. State governments with a CSA - we accept their registration and medical but you must bring your book and it must be up to date.

Trainer/Corner Entry - 

  • MTA Head Instructors get one free entry.
  • Teams with less than 5 athletes get 2 trainer entries.
  • Teams with more than 5 athletes get 4 trainer entries.
  • Teams with 10 or more athletes get 5 trainer entries.

Everyone else pays and supports the not for profit event
